Half day and full day Learn to Sail programs for ages 7-15, located at Regatta Point Community Sailing in Shrewsbury.

Guppies Learn to Sail (ages 7—9):
This program is a summer half day (9-1pm) or full day (9-4pm) /full week session. This program is specifically designed for younger children to develop sailing skills. With a ratio of 7 young sailors to 1 instructor this program uses our new Optimist boats . They are perfect for the smaller child and are extremely easy to rig and handle. As with all of our sailing programs, sailors learn rigging and derigging, ropework and knots, steering and setting sails, and boating safety from a US Sailing certified instructor. It is open to children 7-9 years old with the swimming capability of 25 yards and able to enter the water and be able to tread while putting on a PFD. Lifejackets are provided.

Learn to Sail Camp (ages 9—15):
Whether the child is an experienced sailor or just starting out, Learn to Sail camp provides an opportunity learn or advance sailing skills while working with others in a cooperative environment. It is open to children 9-15 years old with the swimming capability of 75 yards and treading water for 3 minutes. Lifejackets are provided. This program allows for each participant to learn the required skills to skipper their own boat. Parents are invited for a Friday afternoon sail with their new sailors. Come see what they have mastered! This is a full day program only.

What to Bring
  • Towel, sunscreen, water, sunglasses would be useful, hat and lunch.
  • Wear sneakers,shorts and tshirt with bathing suit underneath.
  • Swim testing done first thing Monday morning in the swimming area of the State Park with lifeguard certified instructors.
